Janyne McConnaughey, PhD is an internationally known award-winning author and speaker (https://www.janyne.org/). As a trauma-informed advocate, she is a frequent podcast guest and conference speaker for a range of audiences that include survivors of childhood sexual abuse, educators, ministry leaders, and those impacted by religious trauma.

Janyne’s first three books are memoirs of her Brave journey of healing. Her fourth book, Trauma in the Pews: The Impact on Faith and Spiritual Practices, provides an in-depth look at how religious practices can intentionally or unintentionally cause harm to those impacted by childhood trauma and acts as a guide for ministry leaders to do better.

Janyne recently completed a five-year term on the Board of Directors for the Attachment & Trauma Network (ATN)—two of those years as board president.

She holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and Innovation from Colorado State University–Denver and is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tabor College (Master of Education: Neuroscience and Trauma).

Janyne enjoys writing on her Substack account and holding space in Zoom conversations with those impacted by trauma. She and her husband live south of Seattle with their rescue dog Weber (and ten chickens). They enjoy exploring the Pacific Northwest and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
